Copying Products from Other Projects to Schedules

Copy over to your Schedules any products(s) saved to another project.

Updated over a month ago

Just like you can copy products from your Firm Library to a project, you can copy products from other projects. The process is the same.

  • Navigate to a schedule in the source project (i.e. the project from which you want to copy products).

  • Select the product(s) you want to add to another project's schedule.

    • Hover over the product and click on the box that appears to the left of the product's name.
      OR

    • To select all products, click on the box to the left of the product column header.

  • With the product(s) selected, click on the three dots button in the top bar.

  • Choose Copy Product to Project.

  • Select the destination project to which you want to add the product(s), and toggle on/off the Copy custom data option.

    • See section below for more information about copying custom data.

  • That's it! Navigate to your project's Schedule to see the products you selected.

Copying Custom Data with Product

If you choose to copy custom data with products, the following will happen:

  1. Field Mapping:

    • If a custom field with the same type and name exists in the destination project, data will be mapped to this existing field.

    • If a field with the same name but a different type exists, a new field will be created with a modified name (e.g., [Field Name] (2,3,4,...)).

  2. Field Types:

    • List Fields: New options from copied data will be added.

    • Number Fields: New options will be included; decimal places will align with the destination project.

    • Text Fields: Text will be copied as is.

    • Attachment Fields: New attachments will be added.

  3. Data Merging:

    • If identical fields exist in the destination project, the custom data will be merged into these existing fields.

  4. Views:

    • Default View:

      • New columns created during the copying process will be visible and placed at the end/right side.

    • Shared/Personal Views:

      • New columns will be automatically hidden but can be made visible as needed.

Note: This feature respects project-specific custom field configurations while ensuring data integrity during the copy process.
