SpecPlanner templates are designed to save you time and ensure consistency when adding Masterformat sections to new or existing project specifications. With templates, you can easily add the necessary sections to SpecPlanner, allowing you to focus on product research.
What Are SpecPlanner Templates?
SpecPlanner templates are predefined sets of Masterformat sections designed for different types of projects. With templates, you can quickly add all the necessary sections to SpecPlanner instead of manually inputting them for each project type and goal. Templates can be customized by adding or removing sections when needed.
There are three types of templates:
Firm Templates: Templates that are saved at the firm level and are available to everyone in the firm.
User Templates: Templates saved at the individual user level, accessible to the user only.
Acelab Templates: Default templates provided by Acelab, available to all users.
How to Use a Template
Access the Template Option
If you're working with an empty SpecPlanner, you'll see the "Start with Template" block.
If you're working with an existing SpecPlanner, click “Apply Template” from the Template menu in the toolbar.
Select Template
You'll see a list of available templates, organized into categories:
Firm Templates
User Templates
Acelab Templates
Browse the available templates and select the one that best fits your project needs.
You’ll see an overview and preview of the sections that will be added.
Optional: Remove Current Empty Sections (for existing SpecPlanner only)
To remove empty sections (sections with no products), check the box labeled Remove all current Sections that do not contain Products.
If you leave the box unchecked, the existing sections (with or without products) will remain as they are, and no empty sections will be removed.
Apply the Template
Click Apply to add the selected template to your SpecPlanner.
If the Remove All Empty Sections box is unchecked, any existing sections (with or without products) will be visible in the SpecPlanner.
If the box is checked, any sections without products will be removed, and the new sections from the template will populate your SpecPlanner.
