Adding Products with AceClipper

Install the AceClipper browser extension to save product information from manufacturer websites directly into Acelab.

Written by Patricia Causey

Summary

AceClipper is a Chrome browser extension that lets you capture product information from manufacturer websites while you browse and bring it into Acelab. Use it when you find a product in the wild — on a manufacturer's own site — and want it saved into your Acelab workflows without retyping the details.

Think of it like a "clip and save" button that follows you around the web: when you land on a product page, the Clipper grabs the details and hands them off to Acelab, so the product is waiting for you when you return to the Materials Hub.

Before You Begin

Be sure to have the following:

  • Google Chrome. The Web Clipper is distributed through the Chrome Web Store and runs as a Chrome extension.

  • An Acelab account. You sign into the extension with your Acelab credentials, so you'll need an active account.

How to Install AceClipper

  1. Click Add to Chrome.

  2. Review the permissions and confirm to complete the install.

  3. Pin the extension to your Chrome toolbar so it's easy to reach while browsing.

Note: The extension requests access to website content and authentication information so it can read product details on the page and sign you into Acelab.

How to Sign In

  1. Click the Acelab Web Clipper icon in your Chrome toolbar.

  2. Sign in with your Acelab credentials. Click 'Connect'; if you are already signed in, you should automatically connect. If not, sign in to your account via SSO or Email/Password

How to Clip a Product

  1. Navigate to a product page on a manufacturer's website.

  2. Open the Acelab Web Clipper. [NEEDS BRIEF]

  3. Click Find Product to scan the page for product data.

  4. Review the scanned product. Notice that the product data has now been parsed and structured.

There are two options to add products to your Project Schedule:

Add As You Go (one-by-one)

  1. After scanning the web page, select Copy Product

  2. Go to your Project Schedule in Material Hub. Use CTRL+V or cmnd+V to paste the product to your Schedule. A screen will ask you to confirm the product. Click Import Selected Product

  3. Optional: Find a matching product from the Acelab Product Database. Select Run product matching after import to do so.

  4. Your product is now added to your Project Schedule!

Add Products in Bulk

  1. To add products from multiple web pages, Add your scanned product to Collection. Continue to other website pages, then add all products you've saved to your Project Schedules in bulk.

  2. Select all products or select specific products and click Copy Product

  3. Go to your Project Schedule in Material Hub. Use CTRL+V or cmnd+v to paste the products to Schedules

    1. Optional: Find a matching product from the Acelab Product Database. Select Run product matching after import to do so.

    2. If a match is found, you can replace the product directly.

  4. The highlighted products show the products added to Schedules

Outcome

After clipping, the product information you captured on the manufacturer's website is available inside Acelab, ready to organize and use in your workflows.
